Job Title: Senior UI Designer

Hard Skills:
- Strong visual UI design skills
- Demonstrable structured approach through portfolio case studies

- Designing simple UIs for complex features with numerous constraints
- Embedded Systems Experience: Experience with UIs that run on the embedded systems of physical devices rather than standard computing environments like PCs or smartphones
- Hardware and Software Integration: Skilled in designing interfaces that work seamlessly with the hardware, considering constraints and capabilities of the device
- User Interaction with Physical Devices: Understanding how users will i nteract with the device as a whole, including ergonomic and practical use cases specific to medical environments
- Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with design standards and regulations specific to medical devices, ensuring the UI meets all necessary safety and usability requirements
- Prototyping and Testing: Experience in prototyping interfaces for physical devices and conducting usability testing in real-world scenarios to gather feedback and make iterative improvements
Soft Skills:
- Humility and willingness to collaborate with various functions (clinical engineering, software engineering, PM)
- Good at building internal relationships
- Excellent visual and verbal communication skills
A Day In The Life of Our Senior UI Designer:
- Absorb, digest, and process complex technical and functional information into useful, usable, and efficient workflows, screen layouts, and interactions
- Advocate for strong user-centered design practices and drive cross-functional engagement within the organization
- Champion and apply solid user experience and visual design principles and best practices to design, iterate, prototype, test, and document
- Bring a strong visual design perspective for the next generation of embedded UIs for surgical robotics
- Collaborate with frontend and backend software teams, clinical engineers, product managers, and others to design and build detailed prototypes for evaluation with users and regular release candidates for product UIs
- Support preparation and moderation of user evaluations and generative user research
- Support the development and maintenance of UI requirements and documentation
About You:
- 5+ years of relevant experience (experience in the medical device industry is highly preferred) in mature organizations
- Comfortable with technical complexity and turning it into crisp requirements, easy-to-digest overviews, or simply asking the right questions
- Rich portfolio demonstrating a high degree of visual polish in storytelling as well as product UI execution. Experience in embedded UIs is preferred
- Experience designing for a variety of touchpoints ranging from tablet-sized and large desktop-sized touch displays
- Good sense of when to challenge perspectives and dream big and when to provide the rigid structure for efficiency
- Knack for learning new things and complex products that go beyond just a touch screen UI
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and love to learn from others, but equally excited to deep-dive on your own
- Eager to bring an outside perspective on design and inspiration into the design team
